Send real-time notifications to a Slack channel whenever key events happen on your portal — new member registrations, membership changes, payments, and event sign-ups. Notifications appear instantly in the channel you choose, keeping your team informed without checking the admin dashboard.
What You Get
Once connected, Slack notifications are sent for:
- New user registration — someone signs up on your portal
- User approved — a pending user is approved by an admin
- Membership activated — a new membership is purchased or renewed
- Membership expired — a membership reaches its expiration date
- Payment completed — a Stripe payment succeeds
- Payment failed — a Stripe payment fails
- Event registration — someone registers for an event
Each notification type can be toggled on or off independently.
Connecting Slack
Step 1: Open Slack Settings
In the Orbit admin portal, go to Settings > Integrations > Slack.
Step 2: Add to Slack
Click the Add to Slack button. You'll be redirected to Slack where you can:
- Select the Slack workspace you want to connect
- Choose the channel where notifications should appear (e.g.
#membership-activity) - Click Allow to authorize the connection
You'll be redirected back to Orbit automatically once the connection is complete.
Step 3: Configure Notifications
After connecting, the settings page shows your connected workspace and channel. Toggle on the notification types you want to receive, then click Save Settings.
Step 4: Test
Click Send Test Message on the settings page. You should see a message appear in your Slack channel within a few seconds.
Notification Format
Notifications appear as simple text messages in your Slack channel:
- New user registered: Jane Doe (jane@example.com)
- :tada: Membership activated: Jane Doe — Professional
- :moneybag: Payment completed: Jane Doe — $99.00
- :calendar: Event registration: Jane Doe registered for Annual Gala
Managing Notifications
You can adjust which events trigger notifications at any time from Settings > Integrations > Slack. Turning off a toggle immediately stops that notification type — no need to disconnect the entire integration.
To stop all Slack notifications, click Disconnect on the settings page.
Reconnecting or Changing Channels
To switch to a different Slack channel, disconnect the current connection and click Add to Slack again. You'll be able to select a new workspace and channel during the authorization flow.
Troubleshooting
Notifications aren't appearing
- Click Send Test Message to confirm the connection is still active
- Check that the Slack app hasn't been removed from your workspace
- Make sure the notification toggle for the event type is turned on
"Add to Slack" button is not showing
This means the platform administrator hasn't configured the Slack app credentials yet. Contact your platform administrator to set up the Slack integration.
Connection was lost
If someone removes the Slack app from the workspace or revokes permissions, notifications will stop. Disconnect in Orbit and reconnect using Add to Slack.
